My Story

I am a self-taught expressionist and contemporary folk-artist , and I love to tell  stories with my paint.  I was raised in a small town in Arkansas- an only child- so I had a pretty big imagination!  I attended UAMS College of Pharmacy, and am actively working, a wife, mother of two, and part-time artist.  I am inspired by joyous movement, human emotion and relationship, and of course, anything colorful!   I  primarily use acrylics combined with other media, sometimes creating an effect with texture, sometimes “taking away”  to find the usually unplanned “modern folk” in my work.  I intend to show the viewer  a real connection to something familiar with loose abstraction- striving to balance the two.  I  see  each blank canvas  as an opportunity to emphasize the art we live in day to day life, be it in God’s natural creations to funny little thoughts and experiences we can all connect with and embrace.  Our Great Creator formed us all to be artists- each one of us being given unique gifts to encourage and touch other  in this life.  I want my work to evoke this sweet feeling and remind the viewer of the free spirit of a happy imagination. - andE
